Update 1/14/08: Sad News

Dear Friend of the Casa,

It is with a very heavy heart that I must tell everyone who is a friend to the Casa that our dear friend Donna Zimmerman went to be with the Lord this past December. Donna is now rejoicing with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in glory.

Donna was the driving force for getting so much done at the Casa over the years. Donna's whole life was dedicated in service to others. Donna was greatly loved by all of the children in the Casa and took a personal interest in so many of them and did all she could to make their lives better.

The Board of Directors will continue the work of the El Buen Pastor Fund and is committed to being as dedicated as Donna was all these years.

When I first met Donna 10 years ago, I had no idea what a true blessing she would become to so many lives. Thank you Donna that every time we look to heaven, it will be with a smile and a promise to continue your good work.

El Buen Pastor Fund

Founded in the late 1920's, Casa de Hogar El Buen Pastor is an orphanage assisted by El Buen Pastor Fund, a tax deductible non-profit corporation based in the U.S.A. Serving the needs of children in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico, the goal at the El Buen Pastor Fund is to improve living conditions and future opportunities for the children. "Casa de Hogar" is the Spanish expression for an institutional home, and "el buen pastor" means the Good Shephard.

Mission Statement

These children have been brought to the El Buen Pastor by God's providence and design.

It is therefore the mission of the El Buen Pastor Fund to act in accordance with James 1:27" . . . to look after orphans in their distress" (NIV). Therefore, in an act of obedience to James 1:27 and through Christ's love, it is our mission to come along side the Casa Hogar and provide support to the children and staff in what ever way the Lord provides.

We realize there are many 501(c)(3) organizations supporting worthy causes. What distringuishes the El Buen Pastoral Fund from other tax deductible organizations is the fact that all donated funds go directly to the wellfare of the children. There are no administrative expenses of any kind for the board. All expenses are paid personally by the Board of Directors of the El Buen Pastoral Fund.
